Attendance
Regular school attendance is essential if children are to achieve their full potential.
Right 28 of the UN Conventions of the child, clearly states children have a right to Access Education. We have high expectations of all our pupils to attend school every day on time. Our school attendance target is 97%. Good attendance is part of our ethos and we endeavour to empower our staff to take responsibility for the attendance of the pupils in their care. We work hard with our families to break down barriers and provide the best possible start for our pupils.

Sandilands Primary School believe that regular school attendance is the key to enabling children to maximise the educational opportunities available to them and become emotionally resilient, confident and competent adults who are able to realise their full potential and make a positive contribution to their community. We work hard to support families with poor attendance and can offer 1:1 meetings or Early Help to support those families who need additional support. Please contact Mrs Ashcroft if you would like further information or support with attendance.
Poor attendance will be challenged. Parents should be aware that our school uses penalty notices and court action to support the work of attendance staff in school . More information about parental responsibilities and expectations can be found in our Attendance Policy and in a shorter form in the letters below.
If your child is absent you must inform school before 9.00 or as soon as you can. Please ring 0161 973 6887 or drop an e-mail to the attendance inbox at attendance@sandilands.manchester.sch.uk
Our school target for every child is 97%. This figure is achievable for the majority of children and allows for a couple of days illness .
